WELCOME TO THE KUTUKA MOTORSPORT WEB SITE

Welcome to the updated site. A few more changes for 2009, it’s going to be an even busier year than 2008.
Kutuka motorsport compete in the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club Toyo Tyres XJS race championship, which, amazingly enough, is a race series for Jaguar XJS run by the JEC, using the Toyo Proxes T1R road tyre.
It’s entry-level circuit racing, don’t look for pit babes and preening drivers, we’re dealing with heavy cars on road-legal rubber, but with the top cars regularly exceeding 150mph the machinery is far more capable than you might imagine, we’re not playing.
Our budget for the year won’t cover some teams’ catering, but what we lack in funds we make up for in time and effort, and because of that 2008 was a good year. We took class G and class D championships, our hire car with a rookie driver scared the daylights out of class E, it was better than we could have ever hoped.
2009 presents a problem. We can really only do worse, we return to defend our position as the XJS series’ leading team, but our surprise attack won’t work this year, the cover’s been blown, the secret’s out, so we’ll be up against it. With drivers returning to the series, new drivers crawling out of the woodwork and some existing competitors known to be tuning their cars to ever-higher levels of horsepower it is clear that Kutuka are the team to beat and there are people aiming to try.
And we welcome it, bring on Snetterton.
The team continue to expand, at the start of 2007 was one car, one driver, both returning for their first full season since 2005, 2008 was 3 cars, for 2009 we’ll be associated with even more, plus a radical reworking of all three of our current machines.
The white V12 of team owner and class G champion Stewert Lyddall remains our pointman, but with substantial revisions for 2009. He’s still backed up by class D champion Andrew Harrison, who is fielding a newly-built 4 litre car, and the 4 litre modified hire car returns with a horsepower boost to threaten class E again.
The “birth of a race car” section is being expanded, with “Rebirth of a race car” that will detail Harrison’s new 4 litre car, and “Anatomy of an accident” examining in detail the damage caused to the old class D that was destroyed at Mallory Park – ever wondered what happens to a car slammed into Armco at motorway speed?
The video clips page from 2008 has finally been completed, 2009 will see more regular updates. As ever, pictures are what we’re short of, any you have that are of interest send them in and we’ll try to get them up for you as soon as we can.
Race reports will be joined by reports from the saloon race series too for ’09, and it’s only a matter of time before you see a Kutuka motorsport saloon competing, but you didn’t hear that here…
The Kutuka Race Shop is obviously new, all manner of items to repair, improve or downright vandalise a Jaguar in the name of speed.
So what lies ahead for 2009? Well, we won individual championships, but what about the overall title?
It’s a big ask, especially with such significant changes to each car, we’re prepared for a few blushes when it goes wrong, but the team’s progress from 2007 to 2008 was enormous, we want to see some more, so watch this space to see how it goes.
Race 1 is Snetterton in April, wish us luck, or better yet come and see us in the paddock, everyone’s welcome! Bring biscuits.
